Why I’m starting this

travel notebook

This is where it all begins. In front of a computer. A white page where it’s supposed that something comes to life.
I was here some time ago. I was planning a trip and I came across dozens of travel bloggers that had left their old lives, their old jobs, for a new life and a new job: exploring the world.
I would be lying if I didn’t confess that I wished to be in their shoes, even for a moment.
But I’m not planning to quit my present job. I just want to explore new places and write about them. Another blog in the crowd. So I wonder why? And these are my best answers.

1. I like to travel

This is obvious, but I need to warm up. From the walk in the neighborhood to the distant destination, I like to find out what’s behind every corner.
I’m a sort of romantic traveler. I’m the one you see stuck at the window for hours looking at the landscape that passes by or pretending to read a book while observing other passengers and listening to their stories (I mostly read for real, I’m not that nosy).

2. I love to write

I’ve always loved writing and I note down what I find out during my travels. I thought it might be a good idea to start a blog to keep memories and share experiences. This is an entirely new experience for me and I’m realizing it’s quite hard. I’ll do my best. Possibly, I will learn on the go.

3. I want to challenge myself

In no particular order, I expect:
– to improve my writing skills and my English, which it’s not my native language
– to dedicate to a project and not give up
– to reach new people, to try new things.

I don’t know where this will lead me: discover new destinations? Find new friends? New opportunities?
We’ll see. In the meanwhile… this is where it all begins.
